July 6th, 2016 my post was about the killing of an unarmed black man, Alton Sterling, 37, by a Louisiana police officer that occurred on July 5th, 2016. A Headline reads: Young black men killed by US police at highest rate in year (2015) of 1,134 deaths (The Guardian). The statistics are alarming and the numbers continue to rise. On the evening of July 6th, 2016, Philando Castile, 32 was shot and killed by a St. Paul Minnesota police officer.
Wednesday, July 13th 2016, no one is talking about it anymore.

Another Innocent Black Man Shot
I awoke this morning to the news of another black man being fatally shot by the police in Baton Rouge Louisiana. From the video that's being circulated all across social media, this man was selling cd's at a local store where he's known and has permission to sell these cd's. The video doesn't show how and why the officers approached him in the first place. The officers are yelling for him to get down, then all of a sudden he's being taken down forcibly. While Alston is on the ground both officers are trying to tie his hands, one officer has his hand or arm smashed down on Alstons' neck. Suddenly one of the officers yells out "he's got a gun, he's reaching in his pocket". Then, seconds later all you hear are gunshots. Alston has been shot several times in the chest and in the back. He had no gun out. This was murder, plain and simple. Most people are tired of saying enough is enough! Most people don't know what to say anymore. There is something wrong when a society mourns the lives of victims of mass shootings but not the lives of innocent black men and women being killed by the police. Where is the outrage, the flowers, the politicians? There is something brewing in this country, and it has been brewing for quite sometime. When will it end? How will it end? I'll continue to follow this story and write about it. Peace to us all.
